# Events Overview

> Participate in events across multiple formats and game titles with automated flows.

Events are the core of the platform. Registration, seeding, bracket generation, match progression, and prize distribution are automated, so an event advances on its own once it is running and admins step in only where judgement is needed.

## Event types

* **[Battlegrounds](/events/battlegrounds)** — a continuous challenge-based leaderboard where players and teams issue challenges to each other
* **Cup** — a short, self-contained one-off event
* **League** — a season-based competition with promotion and relegation between tiers
* **Tournament** — bespoke multi-stage events combining group phases and playoffs

## How it works

* **Formats** — a single event can chain multiple stage types; see [Stages](/events/stages) for the full list
* **Seeding** — automatic from ranking and performance history, or set manually by admins
* **Progression** — advancement and relegation between stages happen automatically based on placement
* **Check-ins** — every event requires registered players to check in shortly before it starts

<Warning>
  Registration and check-in are two separate steps. Events are capped by the number of players who check in, not by the number who register — if you register but do not check in, you cannot play. See [Joining An Event](/events/registration).
</Warning>

## The event page

Everything about an event lives on its event page.

* **Overview** — summary of the event
* **Participants** — who has registered and checked in
* **Stages** — the stages that make up the event
* **Matches** — every match in the event
* **Rules** — the full ruleset
* **Join Event** — register, or manage a registration you already have

### Schedule

A timeline view showing which stage the event is currently in. It updates automatically as the event progresses.

### Details

* **Game** — the title the event is played on
* **Team size** — how many players a team entry requires
* **Prize pool** — the total on offer
* **Registrations** — total registrations, checked-in participants, and the check-in cap

### Prize pool

* **Distribution** — how the pool is split across placements
* **Currency** — the currency the pool is paid in
* **Premium** — some events pay [Premium](/engagement/premium) subscribers more for the same placement, shown as a separate column in the prize table

See [Prize Pools](/finance/prize-pools).

### Game settings

The settings you need to configure your game before playing. Fuller detail is in the **Rules** tab.

### FAQ

Answers to common questions about the specific event, written by the organisers.

## Admin Capabilities
